committing the perfect murder – crime writers, including danuta reah/carla banks, nick quantrill and nick triplow, conspire to thrill and inspire you on the saturday night, brought to you by SBD’s Writer in residence, published author alison taft.

nick quantrill - nick is the author of the joe geraghty novels, published by caffeine nights. a prolific short story writer, nick’s work has appeared in various volumes of “the mammoth book of best british crime”. nickquantrill.co.uk

nick triplow - is the author of the south london crime novel frank's Wild Years (2012) and the social history books – family ties, the women they left behind, distant water and pattie slappers. in 2009, nick co-wrote the script for ted’s return home, a short film about ted lewis, author of classic british crime novel jack’s return home (filmed as get carter).

danuta reah - who also writes as carla banks, writes about the issues confronting modern society: family and social breakdown, migration and the distortions of the justice system using the contexts of the modern crime novel. her latest book, the last room, is set partly in poland and is a tense thriller about an unresolved miscarriage of justice.

location – classroom at temple newsam house

all materials and equipment are provided so you can just turn up and enjoy!

please note: there is only 15 mins between workshops so there will be no access into the classroom until time specified.

the performance and film was commissioned by visual arts organisation pavilion and brought together an extensive research and workshop period with the follies of youth, a group of young people who explored the history and politics of the temple newsam landscape, designed by lancelot ‘capability’ brown.

 


 
 

INSTALLATION FROM ARTFEVER

an interactive installation by artfever.org.uk the installation will be a giant woven web, the public are invited to fully immerse themselves in the colours, movement and depth of the yarn providing a sensory journey up towards the marquee.

 

 


 
 

 

LIVE MUSIC

live music throughout the weekend in the cafe/bar curated by mark ruston and the high club. the liverpool band roja will be entertaining us on the saturday evening with songs from their debut album "promises i should have kept" out on probe plus now.

CHILDREN'S ACTIVITIES

 

FREE FAMILY EASTER EGG HUNT

drop off the children with our specialist team of trained staff and they will explore the gardens whilst hunting for chocolate! this event is not just for kids, adults are welcome to join in too.

the easter egg hunt will take place each day from 1pm - 2pm. meet by the sales desk 5 mins before.

HOME FARM

britain’s largest rare breed centre, lots of rare breed cattle, sheep, pigs & poultry to make the day out enjoyable for the little ones.

SPIN ART

will be holding painting workshops for children in the gardens so children can take away their own unique piece of art.
